The European institutions are opening their doors to the public on Saturday ahead of Europe Day (9 May). Numerous activities will take place at the European Council, Commission, and Parliament.

Europe Day celebrates Europe’s unity and commemorates the signing of the Schuman Declaration on 9 May 1950. This ambitious agreement aimed to secure long-term peace in post-war Europe and is considered the conception of the European Union.

At the European Council, in the Justus Lipsius building, all 27 EU Member States have their own information booth with interactive and guided tours, for which you can register online.

The Berlaymont building, which houses the European Commission, is also receiving visitors for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic. In and around the building you can learn about European policy and enjoy “Europe-inspired” concerts.
