A package containing several kilograms of cannabis that was ordered in the US was intercepted by police at the customs office at Zaventem airport on Thursday, La Capitale reported.

The package was part of an international drug deal and had been due to be delivered to an address in Anderlecht. Following its discovery, a police operation led to raids at several addresses in the city.

During the searches, 10kg of cannabis was seized as well as €12,000 and $26,000 cash, three watches worth around €60,000, and numerous other luxury products.

Three dealers

The interception led to the arrest of three suspects – two of which (a 25-year-old Belgian and a 34-year-old American) are brothers.

The third is a 25-year-old Congolese national who was using a false French identity card. He also faces a one-year prison sentence for acquiring assets from the criminal underworld.
