An exceptional parade of old Brussels trams will take place on the occasion of the Iris Festival, the capital region’s official annual celebration, on Sunday.

Trams and buses dating from the beginning of the 20th century will be parading along Rue Royale from noon onward, with visitors invited to board the vintage vehicles to get a taste of life in Brussels a century ago.

On the occasion of the 33rd birthday of the Brussels-Capital Region, the Tram Museum and STIB have collaborated to give Brussels residents the opportunity to ride one of the four vehicles built in between 1901 and 1920, with several departures during the day.

From 12:00 to 17:45 there will be a departure every 15 minutes from Rue Royale (between Baron Horta and Montagne du Parc) for a round trip to Sainte-Marie.

From the same spot, there will be a departure every 15 minutes from 12:20 to 17:35 for a return trip to Place Stéphanie.

The Maeck bus, a unique vehicle built in 1957, will also be departing from Rue Royale, at the corner of Rue Montagne du Parc, from 12:07 to 17:07. The bus will make a return trip to Place Stéphanie.
