Brussels West police were showered with stones by a group of youths when they went to the Esseghem neighbourhood in Jette, Brussels, to answer a call from local residents, Belga News Agency reports.

The police had been called in by residents tired of the nuisance caused by the group of young people. When the law enforcers arrived, they were stoned, the Brussels West police zone said, confirming information reported by Sudinfo newspaper. Calm was restored after reinforcements were sent to the area.

“When our police teams arrived on the scene they noticed the presence of about fifty young people, who were probably doing a video shoot,” Chief Inspector Martin Baes said. “The youths pelted our officers, so they called for back-up and colleagues from the Brussels Capital/Ixelles zone arrived. Thanks to their presence, the situation calmed down.”

No one was injured nor was any police vehicle damaged, Belga News Agency reported.
