26 year-old arrested following fatal stabbing in Ixelles

On Monday evening, the alleged perpetrator of Saturday's fatal stabbing in Ixelles was reportedly apprehended by police.

On Saturday, a 41-year-old man was stabbed several times in the chest, on Chaussée de Wavre in Ixelles.

The victim was quickly attended to and taken to the hospital, but died of his injuries shortly after being admitted.

Belga News Agency are reporting that the suspect, who has been reported missing since the incident, has turned himself in through his lawyer.

"The alleged perpetrator is a 26-year-old man and was charged with murder and placed under an arrest warrant on Wednesday," a spokesperson for the Public Brussels Prosecution told Belga News Agency.

"The investigation, entrusted to the crime section of the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police zone, is still underway to determine the exact circumstances of the events," they added.
