Infrabel, Belgium's public railway company, has requested that the Brussels Tribunal of First Instance evict squatters that they accuse of occupying one of their buildings near Gare du Midi.
On Thursday morning, Infrabel filed an urgent request with the court after squatters allegedly broke into one of their properties on Rue de France in Saint-Gilles.
A spokesperson for the company told Belga News Agency that intruders were discovered a few weeks ago.
"There was a lot of trash and other nuisances, so we put measures in place to prevent access to this building," said the spokesperson. "The garage and entrance doors on the street front were locked, but apparently they were forced open by squatters," they added.

Belga News Agency are reporting that these squatters appear to be families with children based on items found on the street. An information that neither Infrabel nor Brussels-Midi police were able to confirm.
An investigation by the police is currently underway.
