The 21st edition of the Brussels Pink Screens queer film festival organised by Genres d'à Côté and the Nova cinema will take place from 9 to 19 November, the two non-profit organisations announced in a press release on Thursday.

The festival will present more than a hundred varied films, fiction and documentaries, which will have in common a reflection on standards, blind spots and LGBTQIA+ diversity.

The works to be presented are from all over the world, ranging from 'Te llevo conmigo,' which takes the viewer from Mexico to the United States border in the company of people in search of a better life, to 'Hot my god,' which takes a poke at the hypocrisy of the clergy in Eastern countries.

Iconoclastic Portuguese filmmaker Joao Pedro Rodrigues will be honoured in a retrospective, while Fassbinder's film 'Querelle,' will be broadcast exceptionally on the occasion of its 40th anniversary.

For tighter schedules, there will be nine short film sessions to discover. The Pink Screens will also feature an exhibition at the Nova bar and in the cellars of the Galeries cinema, focusing on artists who work around the theme of gender and sexual identity.

Various Brussels cinemas will take part in the festival, including the Nova, Palace, Aventure, Beursschouwburg and Galeries. Ticketing and programming information is available on the website www.pinkscreens.org.
