On Tuesday evening, a fire broke out at a makeshift homeless shelter on Quai des Matériaux near Tour & Taxis. The camp, which was located along the canal in Brussels, had been housing around 80 people, none of whom were hurt in the fire.
The Brussels Fire Brigade reported that they were called on to put out a fire at around 19:10, with their search and rescue operation being described as "intense and constraining" by a brigade spokesperson. This was due to the firefighters not knowing the exact number of people in the camp.
They subsequently put out the fire and confirmed that no one was injured in the fire, which they believe had been started accidentally, information which "still has to be determined."
