Place Rogier hit-and-run suspect gives himself up to police

The suspect who drove the vehicle which hit a young man on Sunday morning, 4.45 am, on Boulevard du Jardin Botanique in Brussels, has come forward and given himself up to police.

The man A.M. 24 years old, has been arrested and is currently being questioned by police, according to the Brussels prosecutors office.

The Brussels public prosecutor's office has appointed an investigating judge on the count of manslaughter, a hit-and-run offense causing death and for endangering pedestrians.

The judge has 48 hours to question the suspect and decide whether or not to put him under arrest.

The person is already known to the police. The victim, a young man, 21 years old, died in hospital following the accident was of Romanian nationality.
