Brussels Ixelles police conducted a major traffic intervention on Saturday at the Plateau du Heysel in another attempt to curb "rodeo drivers".

According to a press release, the traffic intervention stopped an individual driving a moped on one wheel who ran a red light, and a 15-year-old motocross bike rider without a helmet who tried to escape the police, which then led to a pursuit.

Several speeding vehicles were also stopped, one whose driver was under the influence of drugs, and another that ran a red light and was not in possession of a driving licence.

Five of the aforementioned drivers had their driving licenses suspended for 15 days. Previous attempts have been made to crack down on rodeo driving, but to no avail.

Since the start of this year, the Brussels Ixelles police have reported the administrative and judicial seizure of 43 vehicles combined.
