For 17 years, KoKoB has been one of Brussels' key spots for food lovers, but it has now announced it will be closing due to bankruptcy.
Locals and tourists alike could regularly be spotted in this Brussels city centre eatery, tucking into traditional Ethiopian food – which must be eaten with your hands. The restaurant opened in 2006, becoming Belgium's first Ethiopian restaurant.
Aside from mixed food platters, perfect for sharing with large groups of friends and families, the place is also known as one where traditions are cherished: foodies are encouraged to feed the person next to them their first bite before fully starting the dinner.
Much to the regret of KoKoB regulars, the restaurant announced on its social media channels on Friday that it would soon be closing its doors due to it going bankrupt.
"I am writing this message to let you know that the KoKoB adventure, which began in 2006, ends today. We have been very pleased to host you for the past 17 years," the restaurant's founder wrote on Facebook.
An exact closing date has not yet been confirmed.

"Thank you for all the support you have given us: the beautiful parties, the sharing, the expos, the concerts, the discovery of other cultures, the injera, the berbere (mix of traditional Ethiopian spices), the joy of finger food... the awakening of the senses."
The post also mentions the staff members who worked at the restaurant and the people who contributed to the success of KoKoB, especially Heria, who has been the chef since KoKoB's opening.
"Although the decision to shut down is brutal, we try to see the bright side hoping the universe has other plans for us," the founder noted.
