A stabbing took place in the Brussels neighbourhood of Laeken on Saturday night as a result of an argument between two men that got out of hand.

The Brussels Capital/Elsene police were called to Place Bockstael in Laeken on Saturday 9 March at around 22:00 for a stabbing incident. Once the police arrived at the scene, the victim was found with bleeding wounds on the street.

Reportedly, an argument between two men got out of hand. "From the information we received at the scene, the person reportedly intervened in an argument between two people," said Ilse Van de keere, spokesperson for the Brussels police zone.

She added that it is possible the argument took place in a family context.

The victim was taken to hospital as his life was at risk, but this is no longer the case.

The suspect had already fled when police arrived. For security reasons, a perimeter was set up around the crime scene. An investigation is ongoing.
