In a house fire in the Brussels municipality of Schaerbeek during the night from Friday to Saturday, 11 people were evacuated by the fire brigade, several of them via an aerial ladder.

The fire broke out around 02:45 on the second floor of a building on Rue Richard Vandevelde in Schaerbeek, confirmed spokesperson for the Brussels fire brigade Walter Derieuw.

11 people were taken out of the building, "five of them using an aerial ladder," Derieuw said. No one was injured, but the building is uninhabitable. "The residents were taken care of by the police and municipal services."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
