Brussels public transport operator STIB has announced major disruptions to central tram and bus routes from January until autumn 2025.

Tramlines 10, 62, 92 and 93 and buslines 58 and 88 will be disrupted by roadworks from 20:30 on 12 January until autumn 2025.

The works will place new tracks on Place Royale and improve infrastructure in other areas such as Avenue de la Reine (in Schaerbeek and the City of Brussels) and Rue de la Régence (next to Place Poelaert in the city centre).

Tram 10 will be diverted via Verboekhoven and Liedts.

Tram 62 will only run as far as Liedts rather than to Eurocontrol.

Tram 92 will not serve any stops between Poelaert and Parc, and Tram 93 will not run between De Trooz and Louise.

As for buses, an additional 'Tunnel Pavillon' stop will be provided on line 58 between the Stephenson and Masui stops.

The 88 bus will be diverted between Andrée de Jongh and WTC via Marie-Christine and Destouvelles.

The works: New stops, better infrastructure

Using funds from Beliris (which is dedicated to "beautifying" the capital), STIB will renew underground pipes and lay new tram tracks.

The tracks on Rue de la Régence are more than 25 years old, and their replacement will limit noise and vibration nuisance.

New tram stops will also be introduced. 31-centimetre high platforms will allow people with reduced mobility to board trams without any problems at Royale and Petit Sablon. Changes to traffic circulation will improve safety for all passengers.

On Avenue de la Reine, the stops Masui and Jules De Trooz will be merged into one stop called De Trooz.
