Two metro trains transporting Club Bruges supporters to King Baudouin Stadium, were vandalised at Sainte-Catherine station, Stib confirms.
Stib reports the two trains were removed from service after being vandalised, confirming on Monday the damages on its trains from Sunday’s violence in Brussels.
Several incidents disrupted the public transport network in Brussels on Sunday evening, coinciding with the Belgian Cup final in the evening.
Fights later erupted at Beekkant, Clemenceau, Belgica, and Simonis metro stations. Some stops were temporarily closed, metro carriages were damaged, and emergency services had to be called in.
The Stib expressed regret over the disturbances, which disrupted metro lines and endangered passenger safety.
