Eight people were taken to hospital following a collision between a passenger car and a bus from public transport operator STIB/MIVB in Brussels' European Quarter on Thursday morning.
At around 10:40 on Thursday, the Brussels fire service and the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police zone were called to a traffic accident at the intersection of Rue du Luxembourg and Square de Meeûs in the municipality of Ixelles.
"The driver of the car was blocked in her vehicle. Eight people from the bus, including the bus driver, were taken to various hospitals with minor injuries," said fire service spokesperson Walter Derieuw.
The emergency services extracted the driver from the car through its rear, observing the necessary measures to safeguard the cervical spine. "Her condition is, fortunately, not alarming."
The police are looking into the circumstances of the accident.
