Rubbish collection in Brussels was again disrupted by the demonstration of the non-profit sector on Thursday, which came just two days after the public services strike on Tuesday.

The waste company Brussels Cleanliness reports that although it was able to complete 60% of its rounds on Thursday, the effects of the two union actions will be felt for several more days.

Especially the municipalities of Koekelberg, Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Neder-Over-Heembeek, Laeken, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre and Woluwe-Saint-Lambert may be affected.

On Friday and Saturday, "depending on available manpower," the company will carry out catch-up rounds. Brussels Cleanliness is therefore asking residents not to take rubbish bags that have not been collected back into the house in the meantime.

"During the catch-up rounds, we will first focus on the white (residual waste) and orange (food waste) bags, for obvious health reasons," the company said. "The blue, yellow and green bags will be collected gradually this week."

The organisation also said that all recycling parks will remain open, with the exception of the one in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. The bulky waste collection service will operate normally.

Residents can check the company's website and social media for updates.
