Several violent incidents – a shooting and a potentially related fistfight – took place in the Brussels-Capital Region on Sunday night.
Shortly after midnight, one person was injured in a shooting near the Beekkant metro station, on Boulevard Edmond Machtens, in the Molenbeek-Saint-Jean municipality, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed to The Brussels Times.
"A 19-year-old man was shot and injured. He was taken to hospital, but his life is not in danger," said spokesperson Martin François.
Later that night, a fight broke out between several people at the place of the shooting, which may have been related to the incident," he said. "Four people were arrested and are currently being questioned by the police."
In the interests of the ongoing investigation, the Public Prosecutor's Office will not comment further.
Additionally, La Capitale reports that a person was also stabbed in the Brussels Midi metro station around 23:00 on Sunday evening, but the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office told The Brussels Times that they had "no knowledge" of such an indicent.
