Man injured in brawl before being shot in Anderlecht

A man was injured during a brawl that occurred Tuesday night in Anderlecht, the Brussels-Midi police zone (Anderlecht, Saint-Gilles, Forest) announced on Wednesday.

The same victim was shot a short while later but was not injured, Belga News Agency reported. His life is not in danger.

The incident occurred at around 02:00 on Chaussée de Ninove, near the intersection with Avenue du Prince de Liège.

According to the victim's testimony, an altercation broke out in a café involving several people. The man was injured during the fight.

Shortly after, while he was near the establishment, several shots were fired, likely from a handgun. He was not hit by any projectiles.

The man was able to contact emergency services himself, who took him to hospital for treatment. His injuries were minor.

The person who fired the shots has not yet been identified. An investigation is underway to establish the precise circumstances of the incident and find the suspect(s).
