Public transport across the capital will be reinforced on 20 and 21 July to cater to Belgium's National Day festivities. Some lines will be diverted.
Leading up to the National Day, on Sunday 20 July, around 10,000 people are expected at the National Ball will be held on Place du Jeu de Balle, according to the transport operator STIB/MIVB. To expand the travel options between the city centre and suburbs, Noctis night buses, which typically only run on Fridays and Saturdays until 03:00, will also operate on Sunday.
On 21 July, the four metro lines will run at greater frequency, around every 7 minutes 30 seconds until the end of service. A final metro service will be provided at 12:50 to serve passengers who participated in the celebrations at Cinquentenaire Park. Connections with lines 2 and 6 will be guaranteed at Arts-Loi.

Several tram lines in the capital will also run later with the last departures between 01:00 and 01:15. This applies to tram lines 4,7,9,10,19,25, and 81. The last departure for lines 4 and 10 will be around 1:00 in De Brouckère. The last trams in Montgomery on lines 7 and 25 will run at 12:50. Meanwhile at Merode, tram 81 will make its final departure around 01:00.
Additionally, lines 81 and 93 will be reinforced with a tram running every 8 minutes. Lines 39 and 44 will run every 15 minutes from 18:00.
Similarly, 13 bus lines in Brussels will run later, making their final departure between 01:00 and 01:30. The bus lines impacted are 29, 36, 38,49,54,56,59,60,64,71,80,87, and 95.
Despite the reinforcement, STIB warns passengers that several lines may be restricted or diverted on 21 July. This will particularly impact lines which go through the city centre or around the Parc du Cinquantenaire.
Passengers are advised to use STIB's online route planner to plan their journeys with the adapted routes.
