Schaerbeek will host part of the BMX freestyle World Cup

The second round of the BMX freestyle World Cup will be held in the Josaphat Park in Schaerbeek from Thursday 30 June to Sunday 3 July as part of the Urban Session Brussels.

Montpellier, France will host the inaugural round from 25 to 29 May. The third round is scheduled for 20-23 October in Gold Coast, Australia. Montpellier will host the Park and Flatland events, while Brussels and the Gold Coast will only host Park – where riders compete in a skate park.

The event will be organised as part of the Urban Sessions Brussels, a festival dedicated to urban sports, which will see a long weekend of competitions, demonstrations and initiations in BMX Freestyle, Parkour, Breakdance and Skate. There will also be music, street art and food.

Para-cycling World Cup will also come to Belgium

The 2022 UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup will also take place partly in Belgium, with the first round hosted in Ostend.

“After the cancellation of the UCI World Cup in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Ostend hosted the only round that was able to take place last year,” the International Cycling Union (UCI) announced on Monday.

“The 2022 calendar is back to normal, with the opening round in the Belgian port city taking place from 5 to 8 May.”
