Last Tuesday, the Brussels South police zone carried out 15 house searches, leading to six arrests and the seizure of over €85,00 in cash as well as considerable quantities of cocaine, heroin, resin and cannabis.

An investigation lasting several months showed that hard drug dealers are active in the Brussels municipality of Saint-Gilles.

"After intensive detective work, it could be established that the presumed leaders of the organisation came from Antwerp," said spokesperson Stefan Vandenvelde in a press release.

More than 2 kg of cocaine, 500 grams of heroin, 1.4 kg of cannabis and €85,639 were seized during the operation. Six suspects were subsequently arrested by the investigating judge.

"The drugs section continues its actions to increase the sense of security of the inhabitants of the Anderlecht, Forest and Saint-Gilles municipalities," the police said.
