Several injured at the Louvain-la-Neuve student circle

On Wednesday, several were injured in fights that broke out in the CESEC student circle located in Louvain-la-Neuve (Walloon Brabant) for students of communications and economic, social, and political science).   The local police say that they are overwhelmed by the events that have taken place just two days after classes started and have advised the administrative and academic authorities of the incidents.

Approximately 1,500 people tried to enter the circle, which can only hold an average of 120 people. Despite the presence of a private security company, the organizers and the police were completely overwhelmed due to the tension created by the size of the room and the alcohol being consumed.

Police reminded the new president of the CESEC that all parties must end at 3:00 am. Six cases of assault were processed on Wedensday morning between the hours of 2:00 and 5:30 AM.  Several people with nose fractures or split cheekbones were taken to Saint-Pierre Ottignies clinic.
