Brussels - Nicolas Minas guilty of Charlotte A. murder but not of rape

On Friday night around 7:00 PM a jury of the Brussels Criminal Court found Nicolas Minas guilty of murdering Charlotte A., a young woman from  Louvière.   The two met on July 31st,2011, at Zanzibar, a cafe in Woluwe Saint-Lambert. He was also charged of raping  the young woman but was acquitted by the jury. Nicolas Minas strangled Charlotte A. at his home in Anderlecht, July 31st, 2011 at dawn. He had met this young woman at the Zanzibar cafe only an hour before the murder occured.

He said that he tried to kiss her but she began to scream.  Panicked and drunk, he strangled her to keep her quiet, not wanting to cause a scandal in the neighborhood. He stated that he never meant to kill her but just keep her quiet.

He then put her body in a suitcase and threw it in a stream near a slope in Roncquières.

On August 1st, 2011, he turned himself in to the authorities.
