Another protest for Iran will take place in Brussels on Saturday 1 October. Demonstrators will march from Trône metro to Schuman from 13:00 to 16:00 to show their support for Iranian men and women fighting against the compulsory hijab.

Following the death of Mahsa Amini (Jina) in police custody, Iranian protests have risen up all over the country, with thousands joining anti-government protests. Women have had a central role in protests, burning their headscarves and cutting off their hair.

Yet human rights groups and the UN are concerned due to the violent crackdown by authorities, with security forces reportedly responding with live ammunition on protestors. Many have been killed, injured, and detained.

State media have put the number killed in the protests at 41, but human rights groups believe it is much higher. Iran Human Rights (IHR) registered the deaths of 83 protestors in 16 different provinces as of Thursday, including children. It added that restrictions on internet access were causing delays in registering.

In addition, thousands of protestors and civil rights activists have been arrested so far, according to IHR.
