Traffic held up on the Brussels ring-road due to a vehicle on fire at Grimbergen

Traffic on the Brussels ring-road was held up on Tuesday afternoon, due to a vehicle on fire near Grimbergen. The vehicle was in the emergency lane. It was totally destroyed by the flames. The driver was able to get out of his car before it caught fire.
The right-hand and middle lanes were closed to traffic to allow the Fire Brigade to intervene. Traffic jams started from Grand-Bigard, said the Flemish Traffic Management Centre (Verkeerscentrum Vlaanderen).
Traffic jams were also noted on the exterior ring-road, from Woluwe-Saint-Etienne, caused by curious motorists.
