Brussels’ Zaventem Airport welcomed 1,411,776 passengers in February, an 18.4% increase compared to February 2014, it announced in a statement on Monday. The figures, however, are biased by the fact that the Carnival holiday fell in February this year, instead of March, which it did in 2014. Freight transport through Brussels Airport also experienced double-digit growth of +11.7% compared to February 2014. “This is an excellent result when you compare it to other European airports which have experienced a drop of, on average, 1.1%. This result is all the more remarkable that the Chinese New Year, traditionally a calm period for cargo transport, fell in February,” highlighted the airport.
