Banned liquids: 60 tonnes seized from hand luggage at Brussels Airport

In 2014, security personnel at Brussels Airport seized 60 tonnes of banned liquids (liquids, aerosols, gels) from hand luggage, the Sudpresse papers reported on Wednesday. Products over 100ml cannot go in hand luggage. According to the Brussels Airport spokesman, 164 kilos of different sorts of liquid are confiscated every day. Several tonnes of products, unopened, were given to associations, foundations or the CPAS. “We can really say people are not paying attention, as travellers receive information on safety guidelines before their flight, and they can look them up on the Airport’s website”, the spokesman said.
