The UCL perfects ultra-rapid internet

Researchers from The Catholic University of Louvain (UCL) have created a technique that increases an Internet connection’s performance. Working with a Korean operator, Samsung is already using their code in one of its smartphones, Le Soir said on Wednesday. The UCL researcher’s idea is to combine Wi-Fi and the 3G or 4G network, to make it faster. “Samsung has tested the technology by using the UCL’s code in one of its smartphones”, explains Professor Olivier Bonaventure, who manages the laboratory. “One of their engineers demonstrated an 850MB/s connection on one of these smartphones”. That’s five times faster than the theoretical maximum speed for 4G, the paper says.
