Even though there were visibly less visitors on the opening day of Winter Pret, the Brussels event’s organisers have said they are happy. “We have the impression that everything is falling into place. This Saturday, we have seen lots of Belgians at Winter Pret. We now need to encourage tourists to come back to Brussels”, said tourist councillor Philippe Close.
“We don’t have any precise figures, but we know, for example, that the ice-skating rink attracted half as many people compared to the first Saturday of last year”, he said. He added that he was “pleasantly surprised” about the number of people, despite recent events.
Communication campaigns will be launched to try and attract tourists back to the capital, Philippe Close says.
