Five Stib agents attacked by a group of 30 people in Laeken

Five agents working for Stib were attacked Monday evening by over 30 people on Emile Bockstael square in Laeken. The five agents were taken to hospital but could leave the same evening, indicated Ann Van Hamme, spokes-person for Stib. According to the local police, one person was arrested.

The attack took place at 18h10 on Emile Bockstael square in Laeken, where five Stib agents were waiting at a tram stop. They were planning to travel some stations further to carry out a transportation control with police.

Two youngsters approached the agents and started to insult them. They were quickly joined by a large group of over thirty people who physically assaulted the Stib agents. One attacker was managed to be handcuffed by a Stib security agent.

Police units were quickly dispatched to the scene and were also joined by patrolling Stib security staff.
