Some 12 500 attended yesterday evening the traditional performance at Place du Jeu de Balle in the Marolles district in Brussels. It was the 14th edition of the festival. No major incidents were reported by the police
The performance started at 19 in the evening (20 July) and continued until after midnight. The public had been waiting earlier in the evening because of individual systematic checks by the police at the entrances. Access to the square was limited.
Before the arrival on stage of DJ Daddy K at 10:30, attendance was about 10,000 people according to police. The maximum capacity of up to 15,000 is usually reached. The organisers were satisfied with an attendance of 12 500 and praised the courage of the public. Many in the audience were dressed in the colors of Belgium.
The songs of Jacques Brel in interpretation by Filip Jordens enchanted the public. By opening with the title "Brussels", the artist conquered the public.
