A person set fire to himself close to the Brussels Law Courts on Tuesday. The spokesman for the Brussels Fire Service, Pierre Meys, indicated this to the Belga press agency on Tuesday night.

The person set fire to himself on the bridge between Place Poelaert connecting to the elevator that takes you down to the Marolles district. He then threw himself off the bridge landing over 12 metre below.
When the emergency medical services arrived, the person was still alive but in a very serious condition between life and death.
The spokesman for the Brussels Fire Service was not in a position to provide further information as to who the person was or his motive.
