Brussels-Midi police have said they placed four people under administrative arrest after the mass brawl at Porte d’Anderlecht on Saturday afternoon. Two people received minor injuries.
It is not yet known why the fight started, but around 60 to 100 people were involved. Law enforcement believes it could have been the result of a disagreement between locals and Syrians living in the area.
The troublemakers had already left when police arrived. Four people were placed under administrative arrest. Road signs were used as weapons during the fight. The police have had no reports of cars or buildings being damaged.
Calm has returned, but local police have received reinforcements from federal police.
