Around 300 participants gathered for the 10th edition of the Love Bug Parade

Around 300 Bugs and VW vans participated Sunday in the 10th edition of the Love Bug Parade in Brussels, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of “The Love Bug” by Robert Stevenson, first film in a series of feature-length productions starring this car. For the last three years, the merry and colourful parade has also paid tribute to the Flower Power Movement, which was born 50 years ago in the USA. In 2019, the event will commemorate the Woodstock Festival, announces in advance its organizer Patricia Baes.
“We had 300 registrations and 295 participants were actually present,” she rejoices. These originated from regions all over the country, but also from the Netherlands, France and Luxembourg. Almost everyone was disguised as hippies, that is totally in the theme of the Love Bug Parade, says the organizer.
Gathered for the Fiftieth anniversary, all of the participants set off on the road around 2 pm, with a road book and a rally number, for a drive across the city, before returning to the starting point around 3.30, where musical shows and animations were waiting for them.
“We were really lucky with the weather, which helped make this one a fantastic edition,” congratulates Patricia Baes.
The event’s next edition will take place on Sunday 10 February 2019.
