Brussels’ public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the shooting that took place on Monday in a café in Anderlecht.
The waitress at the café on Rue Edmond Delcourt was hit in the leg and is seriously injured, police said on Saturday.
Many people were in the establishment at the time of the shooting, including children.
The incident is “probably linked to the drug scene,” Sarah Frederickx, spokesperson for the Midi area, said.
The same café had recently been in the news when someone threw a grenade there, which turned out to be a training grenade. The army’s bomb disposal service was called in.
The individual responsible for that incident is still at large.
