Two participants in Tomorrowland are reported to have died after taking drugs

Two young women who attended the Tomorrowland Festival in Boom were taken to hospital after consuming drugs and died a few days later, the VRT TV station reported on Saturday evening, quoting well informed sources. The women, who came from abroad, died at the Antwerp University Hospital, according to VRT.

The first victim took part in the first weekend of the festival, which was from 20 to 22 July. She died in hospital about one week later. The second was present at the second weekend of the festival and died a few days later.

In one of the two cases, the victim reportedly consumed ecstasy.

None of the victims was Belgian.  

Police in Edegem and the Office of the Public Prosecutor in Antwerp said they were not alerted to any deaths caused by non-natural causes. The organisers of the festival also said they were not aware of any.
