First standard electric bus on the road from 1 October

The first standard bus powered solely by electricity will run on the Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company ( STIB)’s network from 1 October. The bus, which will be used on Line 13, was presented in mid-September.

It is 12 metres long, has a capacity of 68 passengers, and can run for 16 hours without charging. STIB depots will be equipped with electric charging stations.

Four more vehicles to be added in October to STIB’s electric-bus fleet  have been ordered from Blue Bus, a subsidiary of Bolloré.

STIB plans to go fully electric by 2030.
