The first edition of the European Cinema Night will take place on 3-7 December 2018 across the EU and is expected to reach more than 7200 people. Altogether 34 cinemas in 27 countries will offer free screenings of one of 21 different MEDIA supported films that have been selected. The films have been chosen by local cinemas according to the interest of their public, in order to better adapt to the diversity of audiences. The local venues are all renowned cinemas belonging to the Europa Cinemas network, which is, together with Creative Europe MEDIA and ARTE, one of the organisers.

The screenings will be followed by a short debate where film lovers will have the opportunity to discuss the films with filmmakers and film critics. In Brussels, the Romanian drama film “Touch Me Not”, directed by Adina Pintilie, will be shown at Cinema Les Galeries on Thursday, 6 December, at 19 pm. The director is invited as quest.

“Cinema is an essential part of our rich and diverse European culture and is contributing to reinforce bonds between people feeling the same passion and emotion on a movie,” said Commissioner Mariya Gabriel, in charge of Digital Economy and Society.
