History buffs and treasure hunters, as well as anyone interested in Brussels and its heritage, can visit the stock sale at the Brussels City Archives on 2 and 4 June.

The City Archives, Museums and Culture Department of the City of Brussels have just finished their major spring cleaning. Consequently, a whole lot of publications and documents now have to go out the door.

Unsold copies of publications from the City Archives, museums and the City of Brussels Culture Department are being put up for sale, as well as works from the libraries of the Archives and museums kept in duplicate, old exhibition catalogues, books and empty archive boxes.

Publications dating back to before the year 2000 will be sold by the centimetre. Purchases are then placed on top of each other after which the height of the pile is measured: 1 centimetre is worth €1. Prices for publications after 2000 will be "soft," City of Brussels said.

The sales will continue at Rue des Tanneurs 65 on Friday 2 June from 16:00 to 19:00 and on Sunday 4 June from 10:00 to 17:00. There is no list of available works yet, nor can items be reserved.
