STIB deactivates free WiFi at Lemonnier after violent incident

STIB has temporarily deactivated the free wifi network in the Lemonnier metro station after the violent fight on Friday, where one man was stabbed. The public transport company made this decision while waiting for security measures to be put in place by the Brussels authorities, reports La Capitale.

After the surprise strike by STIB staff on Tuesday to denounce the unsafe atmosphere in the subway station and its surroundings, the Brussels company decided to cut off access to its free wifi network, accused of to be at the root of the problem.

A press conference will be held on the matter, with the Brussels Police, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office and the STIB to report on the joint action plan to improve the situation in the neighbourhood.
