A man suspected of attacking an individual with an axe at a cafe in Brussels was arrested on Monday afternoon, according to reports. The suspect had fought with another man in a café in Molenbeek on Sunday. A third person had intervened to separate the man and the suspect, who then promised to come back for revenge, reports RTLinfo.

He did, returning to the same cafe on Monday where he hit his rival several times with an axe. The victim was taken to hospital in a critical state, but he is now out of danger, according to reports.

Brussels West police arrested the axe-man around 14:00 on Monday at his home in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, reports RTLinfo.

The police managed to quickly track the attacker through a neighbourhood investigation. In all, a dozen agents were involved in apprehending him at his home.
