Nuits Botanique: Young woman injured by fall off of stage

A young woman was slightly injured on Wednesday evening after falling off the stage at the opening of the Nuits Botanique, said Walter Derieuw, the spokesman for the Brussels fire brigade. The ambulance attendants requested the assistance of SMUR (Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Service) for a shoulder problem. No fire engines were deployed to the scene.

Paul-Henri Wauters, Deputy Director of Botanique, explained that the incident happened after the artist Jok'Air called on the audience to come on stage. On the way up, a young woman fell back from the edge of the stage. She was conscious and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The concert was interrupted while the woman was attended to, but was able to resume after.

"I don't like artists calling on the audience to come on stage, because safety is against it," said Wauters. "People reacted well, and the firemen arrived quickly. The only thing that matters to me now is to have an update on this young woman and for her to recover soon," he added.
