False summons letters reported in Schaerbeek

False letters summoning people to the city hall have been circulating in the municipality of Schaerbeek. The municipality of Schaerbeek signalled the fake letters on its website, side-by-side with the real ones, and explained how to recognise them. They carry the old logo of the municipality and have no official stamp or signature of the municipal secretary. The false letters also contain a spelling error: "Le 02/05/2019 à 11h précise" (should be "précises").

"We have discovered two letters that are clearly false so far," said Marc Weber, head of the cabinet of Mayor Bernard Clerfayt (Défi) to Bruzz. "We hope it stays that way. The police have been notified and the municipality has filed a complaint in any case," he added.

The false summons may be a trap to lure people out of the house so that it is empty and easy to break into.

Anyone who has doubts about a summons letter can always contact the municipality on 02.244.75.11.
