Body found in Molenbeek canal identified

The body that was picked up on Sunday afternoon from Molenbeek’s canal in Brussels has been identified. Police and forensic medical examiners have identified the body to be of a young man, born in 1989, and who had been reported missing from a psychiatric clinic since 6 May.

“All indications show it was a suicide, a police spokes-person said on Monday morning.

Locals found the body floating on the canal on Sunday afternoon under the bridge by Chaussée de Gand in Molenbeek. Firefighters arrived at 17:45 pm to pick it up.
