Fire services were called out to an incident near Schaerbeek station on Friday at 12:57 after a material storage booth, located near the tracks, caught fire. Firefighters went to the scene and quickly controlled the fire, meaning that rail traffic was only impacted for a few moments.

“The origin of the fire is probably malicious,” confirmed Frédéric Sacré, spokesperson for Infrabel to BX1.

The incident did not cause injuries but caused the trains to stop for a few minutes while the fire was brought under control.

The situation is now under control.
