Two treated for smoke inhalation after fire breaks out in Brussels municipality

An apartment building in the Brussels municipality of Forest caught fire on Sunday evening, leading to the evacuation of the residence and bringing tramway traffic to a temporary halt as the fire brigade stepped in to extinguish the flames.

Shortly after 19:00 the fire department intervened was called to the Chaussée de Neerstalle, where large clouds of smoke were seen coming out of a building.

The fire reportedly originated in a storage room where lots of old furniture was being stored.

While the firemen were able to rapidly extinguish the flames, their intervention momentarily interrupted tram traffic in the area.

The building’s residents were evacuated by the fire brigade, and two people living in the apartment where the fire originated were treated on site for smoke inhalation.
