Two tunnels were closed on Friday morning due to flooding as a result of heavy rains above Brussels. Tram traffic has also been affected, Brussels Mobility and the Brussels Fire brigade reported.

The Arts-Loi road tunnel has been closed in both directions due to flooding. The nearby Vleurgat tunnel is closed in the direction of La Cambre.

The Porte du Hal tunnel, heading towards the Koekelberg Basilica, was also closed for time by heavy rains, but has since reopened.

Elsewhere in Brussels, flooding has disrupted tram services, notably on the line 9. Flooding washed away two cars near Exposition tram stop and disrupted public transport.

"On Avenue de l'Exposition in Jette, tram traffic was disrupted due to flooding," announced spokesperson for the Brussels Fire Brigade, Walter Derieuw. "Currently, our teams are working on around ten interventions in Brussels, and several are still pending."
