Ecover, a company that develops environmentally friendly cleaning products, is teaming up with the brewer AB Inbev to create a washing-up liquid called "Too Good to Waste", made up of at least 25% of the waste alcohol leftover from brewing alcohol-free beer, a press release from Ecover stated.
The product will be on sale in a 100%-recyclable plastic bottle.
Using ethanol and water from the beer-brewing process in washing-up liquids is merely the beginning, Ecover promised.
During the course of the next five to ten years, the firm intends to develop products partly composed of residual waste and will experiment with fabricating products based on waste containing residual CO2. For its part, AB InBev also plans to utilise residue from grains and alcohol produced by the brewing process in a sustainable way.
