Cultural and tourism initiatives in Brussels last year that raised the reputation of the Belgian capital on a national and international level were honoured at the visit.brussels Awards on Thursday evening at Bourse, Belga News Agency reports.

The "seven wonders of Brussels" include the Kunstenfestivaldesarts, the Brussels Beer Project and StrEat Fest, visit.brussels Awards announced in a press release later on Thursday evening.

The public and the jury, made up of members from various professional associations in the tourism sector, selected the winners in five categories from around seven projects. The criteria used were originality, innovation, the project's success, customer focus, sustainability and efforts to make it accessible to people with reduced mobility.

'Queering Brussels', organised by the non-profit L'architecture qui dégenre, won in the bold new project category, while Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2022 won the 'Brussels on stage' category. The award for digital innovation went to 'Kinshasa Now @ VirtualPalace', by SPRL Retinehotel, the award for best nighttime experience went to Listen Festival 2022 and the award for most sustainable initiative went to the Brussels Beer Project.

In the co-creation category, the award went to 'In.out.siders' by non-profit LaVallée, and the public vote went to StrEat Fest by non-profit Tatou Production.

This initiative by visit.brussels, the promotional and communications agency dedicated to raising the profile of tourism, culture and events in the Brussels-Capital Region, has been running for 11 years.
